The Government of Peru awarded Julio Velarde Flores, president of the board of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, with the Order El Sol del Perú in the rank of Grand Cross during a ceremony led by President José María Balcázar on March 25. The event took place at the Government Palace and was attended by José Reyes, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, along with other state ministers and government officials.
The recognition was given to Velarde for his significant career in economics and finance. His leadership has been highlighted as contributing to maintaining monetary and macroeconomic stability in Peru.
The Order El Sol del Perú is described as the highest decoration granted by the Peruvian state. It is intended to recognize distinguished services rendered to the nation by both Peruvian citizens and foreigners. The Grand Cross is noted as its highest grade.
This honor reflects an acknowledgment from national authorities for contributions made toward economic governance and public service.
