The Instituto Tecnológico de la Producción (ITP), under the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE), concluded the second edition of its “Science and Technology Summer 2026” program on March 24. The event drew more than 8,000 registered participants over two months, making it one of the country’s most significant forums for training and exchange in innovation and technology.

The program ran from January 20 to March 24, bringing together students, researchers, representatives from micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYME), academia, and the general public. Participants engaged in specialized courses, workshops, and discussions with both national and international experts.

Three main courses were offered: “Applied Biotechnology,” “Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development,” and “Digital Tools for Innovation.” Each course included modules covering current topics such as bioprocesses, circular economy, energy efficiency, modern analytics tools, and real-world case studies.

More than 90 speakers participated in the event. Among them were 21 international experts from countries including Chile, Colombia, United States, Spain, Germany, Ecuador and Mexico. Seventy-three national specialists also shared their knowledge and experiences during the sessions.

The closing ceremony featured a specialized panel with former Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Magaly Silva; executive director of ProCiencia Hans Vásquez Soplopuco; André Corrales Angulo from Universidad Continental; Shirley Evangelista Vargas from Universidad Científica del Sur; Antonio Castillo Garay from Sociedad Nacional de Industrias (SNI); as well as ITP’s executive director Kitty Trinidad. Organizers said this edition not only strengthened skills but also promoted collaboration between academia, public sector institutions and industry.
