The Hospital de Emergencias Pediátricas (HEP) highlighted on April 12 the stories of children and adolescents who have overcome serious health challenges, in recognition of Día del Niño Peruano. The hospital shared accounts of lives saved and families finding hope through timely, specialized care.
The hospital said it handles about 250 emergency and urgent cases daily, making it a national reference point for complex pediatric situations. Patients from various regions arrive with critical diagnoses and receive care from a dedicated team committed to their well-being.
One story featured is that of Ángeles, who arrived at the hospital in 2021 with hip dislocation and muscular dystrophy. Her mother said, “Ella es una guerrera y me ha enseñado a ser valiente,” reflecting the strength found beyond medical treatment. Another case involved an eleven-year-old girl from Sullana who overcame a severe cerebral arteriovenous malformation after undergoing complex neurosurgery at HEP. Her successful transfer to Lima and coordinated care by a multidisciplinary team made her recovery possible.
The hospital emphasized that such stories are common within its walls, as doctors, nurses, and support staff work quietly but decisively to face emergencies while providing empathy to families during difficult times.
In connection with Día del Niño Peruano, HEP reaffirmed its commitment to saving lives and supporting the future health of children across Peru.
