The Regional Health Management of La Libertad announced on Apr. 16 the activation of a new Fever Unit at the Puente Chao Health Center in the district of Chao to improve care for citizens affected by dengue.

This initiative is part of health policies promoted by the Regional Government of La Libertad, aiming to provide specialized and accessible care while reducing congestion at larger hospitals. The Fever Unit will offer timely diagnosis, initial treatment with stabilization, symptom management to prevent disease progression, and continuous monitoring to detect warning signs early.

The activity follows the “Plan de Prevención y Control del Dengue 2026” presented by the Ministry of Health.

Authorities report that larval control actions continue across the region along with campaigns to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites and educational talks on prevention measures. To ensure proper patient care, local health personnel are receiving training based on technical guidelines from the Ministry of Health at sessions held in the auditorium of Colegio Médico de La Libertad.
