The Red Integrada de Salud Condorcanqui, part of the Dirección Regional de Salud Amazonas, announced on March 31 that it is carrying out fumigation activities in 15 neighborhoods of Nieva and Juan Velasco Alvarado. The effort aims to eliminate the adult Aedes aegypti mosquito and prevent the spread of dengue.
This action involves interventions at a total of 1,625 homes across neighborhoods including Paraíso, Nueva Unida, Rodríguez Contreras, El Bosque, Gabino Lozano, Miraflores, Pimpingos, La Tuna, Centro Nieva, Ucrania, Vista Alegre, Juan Velasco Alvarado, Héctor Peas, Kukush and La Curva.
The fumigation campaign is part of the “Plan de prevención y control del dengue 2026” presented by the Ministry of Health (Minsa). The schedule consists of three rounds: the first took place on March 27 and 28; the second is scheduled for March 31 and April 1; and the third will occur on April 6 and 7.
According to Minsa guidelines shared via loudspeaker announcements before each intervention, residents are advised to close windows but keep doors open for ventilation. Curtains should be gathered up and spaces cleared where fumigation will take place. Food items as well as water containers and household goods should be covered. Residents are also instructed to turn off stoves and electrical appliances during fumigation for safety reasons.
All family members and pets must leave their homes during treatment and remain outside for at least one hour after completion. For questions about dengue or these preventive measures, citizens can contact Minsa’s free information service through Línea 113 or reach out via WhatsApp or Telegram at numbers provided by health authorities.
