The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation announced on March 14 that it has made available a 50,000 square meter plot of land to the Regional Government of Lambayeque for the development of a high-complexity hospital. The site is located in the Capote population center, Picsi district, Chiclayo province.
This move aims to support the construction of a new hospital facility intended to strengthen medical care in northern Peru. The land was previously part of properties linked to the La Florida Experimental Station under the National Institute for Agrarian Innovation and was managed by the agricultural sector. After technical and legal evaluations determined it was not needed for institutional purposes, the ministry approved its transfer following a request from regional authorities.
During an inter-institutional working visit with representatives from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Felipe Meza Millán, Minister of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, said this decision reflects coordinated efforts across different levels of government. “This project is result of the joint work between the National Government, Regional Government and other entities of the Executive. This action will allow progress on key infrastructure to strengthen medical care in northern Peru and benefit the general population, including men and women from rural areas who require timely health services,” Meza Millán said.
The planned hospital will expand healthcare capacity by offering specialized services for complex cases as well as modern equipment and technology. According to officials, this initiative is expected to improve access to quality health services for residents throughout Lambayeque.
The ministry stated that it remains committed to working closely with regional authorities and other executive entities to promote projects that contribute to territorial development and enhance citizens’ quality of life.
