The Faculty of Psychology at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos welcomed approximately 295 new students as they began their university studies, according to an April 2 announcement. The welcoming ceremony was led by Dean Lupe García Ampudia and included students from both the School of Psychology and the School of Organizational Psychology and Human Management.
García addressed the incoming class by saying, “We want you to be excellent academically, cultured, and committed to others, to the human beings around us. Also, we want you to be good people—integral and balanced. We need you to bring well-being rather than discomfort to others.” She wished them success in this new stage of their lives.
The dean encouraged students to take advantage of various services offered by the faculty for a quality education, such as a new library, internet access, laboratories, and more. “Enjoy the faculty’s spaces and let’s learn to live together and build a healthy faculty,” García said.
During the event held on April 1 in the faculty auditorium, Leandra Matos Navarro received special recognition for achieving the highest entrance score among all admitted candidates in both admission processes for 2026-I and 2026-II. Matos said, “I didn’t know what to study but like a sudden ray of light I had clarity that psychology was my path—to help and serve others. This year that we start our career I hope it is fruitful for everyone and that we become a very united group.”
Other top-performing entrants were also recognized during the ceremony across different admission modalities including general testing and pre-university center pathways. Academic Vice Dean Elisa Yanac Reynoso delivered words of welcome alongside directors Carmen Alvarez Taco (School of Psychology) and Abel Cuzcano Zapata (School of Human Management Psychology), as well as student representative Nocciola Mendoza Trajtman.
The event featured artistic performances from student Alexa Casas Gálvez with a poetry recital and from the Faculty’s Student Tuna group with musical selections. All first-year students received gifts from faculty authorities.
