The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism announced on March 29 that the business roundtables for exports and tourism at Expo Perú Norte 2026, held in Chiclayo, generated more than USD 38,838,000 in commercial opportunities.
The event was organized by the Ministry through the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPerú) on March 26. It brought together Peruvian entrepreneurs with national and international buyers during more than 1,000 business meetings. José Reyes Llanos, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, attended the event.
As part of the export business roundtable, there were a total of 444 meetings resulting in commercial opportunities worth USD 37,644,418. This figure includes USD 887,884 in finalized sales and USD 36,756,534 in projected agreements over twelve months. The amount surpassed an initial projection of USD 20 million previously announced by Minister Reyes Llanos.
Sixty-two exporting companies from regions including Áncash, Apurímac, Junín, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Piura, Tacna and Arequipa participated alongside thirty buyers from thirteen strategic markets across Latin America, North America and Asia. According to organizers at PromPerú and Mincetur (the Ministry), Expo Perú Norte is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen foreign trade and tourism while promoting Peru’s exportable goods and tourism offerings.
In addition to exports discussions, a separate tourism-focused roundtable resulted in more than USD 1.1 million in projected commercial opportunities over twelve months through around six hundred fifty meetings. This activity focused on boosting tourism offerings from Peru’s northern Amazon macro-region by connecting twenty-five Peruvian tourism companies from eight regions with twenty-six buyers—fifteen domestic and eleven international—including participants from Piura; Lambayeque; La Libertad; Cajamarca; San Martín; Amazonas; Loreto; and Áncash.
Familiarization trips were also organized to key destinations within Lambayeque such as Túcume; Monsefú; Pimentel; Motupe as well as visits along the Pope Leo XIV tourist route established to promote religious tourism and cultural heritage across northern Peru.
