The Ministry of Education announced on March 14 that all public schools in Cajamarca have received their educational materials ahead of the start of the 2026 school year. The announcement was made during a visit by President of the Republic and Minister of Education Erfurt Castillo to Fe y Alegría 22 San Luis Gonzaga School in Jaén.

This development is significant as it ensures that students will have access to textbooks and workbooks from the first day of classes. Castillo said, “A few days before the start of the 2026 school year, Cajamarca already has 100% of educational material distributed in its public schools, which will allow students to begin their classes with texts and notebooks from day one.”

During the visit, which also included Zacarías Espinoza, director of UGEL Jaén, and Roger González, director of the school, Castillo reported that a total of 721,675 units of educational material have been distributed across Cajamarca. This distribution benefits 356,821 students in 8,365 educational services with an investment totaling 2.53 million soles.

Fe y Alegría 22 San Luis Gonzaga serves 1,324 students at initial, primary, and secondary levels with a staff of 70 teachers. For this academic year, the school received 2,042 pieces of educational material including workbooks for children aged four and five, mathematics booklets for primary grades, and communication and mathematics textbooks for various grades.

Nationally, more than 13 million units of educational material have been produced and distributed to public schools throughout Peru as part of efforts to ensure a smooth start to the academic year. The total investment for this initiative amounts to 42.5 million soles.
