BBVA Perú announced on May 5 that customers can now open a dollar-denominated savings account through its internet banking platform or mobile app. The process involves providing personal identification, phone number, and email address, followed by several verification steps.
This initiative is intended to offer customers more options for managing foreign currency, especially in times of economic uncertainty. Having a dollar account allows users to save in a stable currency, conduct international transactions with ease, and avoid the need for currency exchange when making payments abroad.
The bank said that opening an account requires selecting the desired type of account and currency, completing a sworn statement regarding residency and nationality, answering security questions to prevent fraud, entering occupational details such as profession and employer information, and accepting terms and conditions. Once these steps are completed and the verification code sent via SMS is entered, the customer will have access to their new dollar savings account.
