Banco Central de Reserva del Perú issues commemorative coin for Peru-US diplomatic bicentennial

The Banco Central de Reserva del Perú announced on April 30 the release of a silver commemorative coin marking the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Peru and the United States of America.

The new coin, with a denomination of S/ 1.00, is made from .925 fine silver and weighs one troy ounce. It features a diameter of 37 millimeters, proof quality, and an issuance limit of 5,000 units. The obverse side displays the national Coat of Arms along with the inscription “BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ,” the year 2026, and “UN SOL.” The reverse side shows Machu Picchu—representing Inca engineering and heritage—and Miami’s Freedom Tower, which is designated as a National Historic Landmark associated with hope and liberty. The inscriptions include “200 AÑOS DE RELACIONES DIPLOMÁTICAS” at the top and “PERÚ – USA” below.

According to the Banco Central de Reserva del Perú’s announcement: “Esta moneda es de curso legal y se podrá adquirir en el Portal de Ventas del Banco: https://tiendavirtual.bcrp.gob.pe/tiendabcrp/ a un precio inicial de S/ 338,00.”
